Finger and hand tattoos are beautiful, delicate placements, but they require a little more maintenance than tattoos in most other areas of the body. Because our hands are constantly moving, washing, touching, and exposed to everyday friction, the skin naturally sheds and regenerates more frequently. This can make it more difficult for pigment to remain as crisp and consistent over time.

Will my finger or hand tattoo need touch-ups?

Most likely, yes. Finger and hand tattoos commonly require multiple touch-ups throughout their lifetime, and this is considered completely normal for the placement.

Fine-line work may be especially prone to fading because only a limited amount of pigment can be safely placed into this delicate skin. Some fading or patchiness may become noticeable during the early healing process, sometimes within the first week.

Areas that tend to require the most refinement include the sides of the fingers and hands, knuckles, and the lower portions of the fingers near the nail bed.

Are touch-ups included?

Because finger and hand tattoos naturally require more ongoing maintenance, touch-ups for these placements are not included in the original tattoo investment.

Any future refinements are charged at the standard studio rate of $200 per hour.
